The Philippine media delegation on December 15, 2023 pictured at the foot of the famous, ancient five-storey East and West Pagodas of the port city of Quanzhou (pronounced as “Chuanchow”).
The pagodas were built in the Song Dynasty and acclaimed as highest level craftsmanship of Chinese stone architects in the 13th century. These pagodas are located on both sides of the main shrine hall of the Kaiyuan Temple.
Among the visitors to Quanzhou was the Italian traveller Marco Polo and the city was one of the world’s two biggest port cities in the Middle Ages in the Song and Yuan Dynasties.
This cultural and goodwill visit of Filipino journalists to Fujian province was a civic project of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) to promote the over 1,000 years of uninterrupted traditional friendship and trade between the peoples of the Philippines and China.
